Tanasia encourages individuals to live authentically. She works with schools and organizations to strategically cultivate mutually transformative spaces. She is the Head of Belonging and Wellness at Francis W. Parker School in San Diego, CA. Tanasia is a Johnson Fellow for Anti-Ableist Teaching and a 2025 National Education Fellow with LiberatED. She currently serves as the Director of Student Belonging and Wellness at Francis W. Parker School (JK–12) in San Diego, CA. She is the former Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Cheshire Academy, an internationally minded preparatory school in Connecticut, and a Commissioner for the CAIS Commission on Diversity in Independent Schools.
Her journey as a diversity, equity, and inclusion advocate began over twenty years ago as a student facilitator within the New England Independent School Network. She is passionate about helping communities develop tools to navigate change and growth. In addition to her work with schools and organizations, Tanasia is a birth doula, focused on providing perinatal services to underserved communities. Before her work in diversity, equity, and inclusion, Tanasia worked in financial services at Bridgewater Associates, LLC. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Africana Studies from Williams College in Massachusetts.
Tanasia is also an Olympic Development–level track and field athlete, specializing in the triple jump. She is a three-time national champion and the current national record holder for Puerto Rico. Tanasia is a graduate of Williams College, where she was a three-time NCAA national champion, a 12-time All-American, and the recipient of the Nell C. Jackson Award from the National Association for Girls and Women in Sports. She has coached at the Division I (Vanderbilt University, SEC) and Division III levels.
